10 Over-The-Top Thanksgiving Meal Ideas

Ok, it’s that epic time of year – the day where you can eat anything you want and not feel guilty – well, maybe a little guilty but we still consume ridiculous amounts of food regardless. Yes, it’s Turkey Day and boy, am I looking forward to it.

In honor of the traditional Thanksgiving feast, I scoured the Internet for some not-so-traditional spins on the T-day classics (Think Turducken – yep, it’s on the list).  Below is my own Top 10 list of gluttonous recipes from the web that I either hope to try or will never try (again, Turducken) out of sheer disgust.  I mean really, turkey glue (yep, Turducken).

Tara’s Top 10 List of OTT (Over-the-top) Thanksgiving Meals (ranked by heaven sent to holy cow, really??? – see #2 and #1 on the list)

10.) Bacon, Cheese and Garlic Mashed Potatoes:  Everything tastes better with bacon. Add cheese and garlic, and you’ll have one happy crowd on your hands.

9.) Best Bacon Sprouts:   Mmmm bacon. Enough said.

8.) Paula’s Sweet Potato Balls: Paula Deen, brown sugar, coconut and marshmallows.  Talk about a winning combination for homemade goodness.

7.) Stuffing Stuffed Mushrooms: Get your traditional stuffing in the form of these mushroom – stuffed sliders.

6.) Paula Deen Savannah High Apple Pie: This one’s so amazing, there’s a video to go with it!

5.) Caramel Apple Pie with Pecans: Apple pie with a decadent caramel and pecan topping.

4.) Parmesan and Garlic Potato Chips: Potatoes fried in peanut oil and sprinkled with parmesan cheese – yum – a great app while watching the game (or the parade for those early risers).

3.) Maple Walnut Pecan Pie: Maple syrup, pecans, walnuts, brown sugar and tons of butter – this is one OTT dessert I have to try!

2.) Suntanned Turkey: A turkey in its birthday suit. Please click on this link if only to witness the absurdity yourself.

1.) TURDUCKEN: This is just wrong. You MUST view this video.

No matter what you choose to eat this Thanksgiving holiday, I wish you the happiest and healthiest of holidays and please stay shy of the Turducken. (But if you do try it, I want to know about it!)
