On a recent call with sales manager Sharon Bujan of ERA Colonial Real Estate … I got a brilliant idea. Actually, it was her idea (Thank you Sharon!)
The Idea: List your house in the fall because that is when your home is the prettiest.
Whether you are listing your home soon or it’s already on the market, play up the pumpkins, the foliage and the gourds. For October fun, throw a few skeletons and bats into the mix.
Why? Because fall is already such a beautiful season in so many states, it is easy and inexpensive to capitalize on the changing colors of the leaves, the full bloom of mums and the readily available bales of hay and cornstalks. Not to mention, the emotional tie between home and the holidays. Mother Nature gives you a hand from September through November so take advantage of it. For curb appeal, make sure those gorgeous leaves are raked up, put a fall wreath on the door, and a pumpkin or two on the porch. Inside, add a little charm with gourds and leaves on the fireplace mantle and a bowl of mini pumpkins on the kitchen table.
This is a quick and affordable way to add seasonal warmth and character to your home. It also gives the potential buyer an idea of how they can decorate the home in the future. And that is what you want, an emotional attachment to a home as a future dwelling.
