“We are a small company with a lot to give.” That’s the philosophy that drives the team at ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. in Winchester, Virginia, to implement a variety of great ideas that have worked in helping them send children with muscle disease to MDA Summer Camp in honor of our ERA MDA Summer Camp Challenge.

Last year, they sent 8 kids to camp and won the prestigious ERA® President’s Award for Outstanding MDA fundraising. This year’s goal is 10 and they are well on their way. Here are three proven fundraising techniques that produce results.

strat-mda2Treasures & Treats:
ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. held developed an annual yard sale and bake sale, raising enough to send two kids to camp. They collected and received donated items under the guise that “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” and complemented the event with a bake sale with items baked with love and donated by their team. Further sweetening the event was a visit from their Virginia MDA State Ambassador. Interested in hosting a similar event, click here for ideas.

Raffle it Off:
Here is a very easy way to fundraise. The firm raffled off 2 sets of Washington Capital tickets raising nearly $500. The tickets were donated, they used the typical raffle tickets you can buy at a party store, promoted it locally on social media and to vendors and their sphere and boom – instant fundraiser!

strat-mda3Feed Your Friends:
Who doesn’t love a great barbecue? ERA OakCrest Realty hosted a BBQ dinner fundraiser for MDA and raised nearly $5,000 – 5 more kids to camp! Get your best cooks in order, ask for help from your vendors and form committees within your firm to handle promotion, admittance, cooking, clean-up, set-up and decorations. And don’t forget to call your local MDA office to have them attend, help and / or invite an MDA family to your event. It’s always nice for people to see who their donations are benefitting.

Please join us in giving the team at ERA OakCrest Realty, Inc. a virtual round of applause and feel free to take a page from their playbook. These truly are great ideas that garner serious results.
